TALLADEGA, Baby!! v2009.1

Evil Ones---

Once again it's time for the 2nd most anticipated race of the season:

It's TALLADEGA, Baby!!

Well okay, now that we've got that out of our system for a descending series of moments,
let me get to the more disturbing and/or troubling development of the 2009 season so
far: The imminent demise of DEI/Ganassi.

Not that one should are ALL that much about the Evil Stepmother, except as:

"C'mon Chippy Baby, park your hauler in MY garage!!"

Yes, as THAT, perhaps. Maybe.I've written about this DEI/Ganassi at length previously,
on November 11th, 2008 to be precise. About who gets to play butch on any given
Sunday, and so on.

Evidently, the merger is going more like THUS:

Yes....definitely more like that. Not exactly the romance that can sustain a team.
Regan Smith won rookie of the year for them last season and his ride was gone before
the season began (Regan replaced Front Row Joe at Furniture Row Racing) Now, the #8
car is gone, along with the promising future of Aric Almirola. Ganassi, of course, dropped
the 40 & 41 last season.

That leaves Juan Pablo Montoya and Martin Truex Jr.

Which wouldn't be all that bad except for THIS little blurb which
I quote directly from Jayski:

"Truex Jr. unsure of future plans: #1-Martin Truex Jr. said he'll make a decision soon on where he'll drive in 2010 and beyond. The two-time Nationwide champion signed a one-year deal last August to stay with Dale Earnhardt Inc., which merged with Chip Ganassi Racing in the offseason. Though Truex says he's "100 percent committed" to Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing and enjoys his crew, the timing and ambiguity caused by the merger — which moved Truex's #1 Chevrolet into Ganassi's shop in late December — left the team in disarray. "We just lost our way and needed time to regroup and that's why we started out slow," he said. "We sat on our hands all winter, not because we wanted to but because we were forced into doing it, and it hurt us." Truex wouldn't put a timetable on a career decision but said he has begun "laying the groundwork" for signing a long-term deal. "There's a lot of things that go into this with the economy the way it is," he said. "I need to put myself in a happy home for the next three to five years. A lot of things will drive that decision."

Yes...a happy loving home...for the next 3 to 5 years
Something that the Evil Stepmother her open wheel and
sportscar lovin' Boy Toy can't provide.

It should be remarkably easy to lure Martin Truex away.

Meanwhile...as I type this, qualifying for Talladega is live on
the SPEED channel. It's great watching this in HD, and as I
type this:

The aforementioned odd man out, Juan Pablo Montoya
sits on the pole. We'll see how long THAT lasts.
But for now....

It's TALLADEGA, Baby!!

And...meanwhile:

"I love you SO much, David!! I'm SO very proud of you!!"

Inexplicably, David Ruetemann, driver of the 00
Aaron's dream Machine Toyota for Michael Waltrip
Racing would STILL qualify for the chase if the
2009 Season ended today!

Respectfully submitted,

Evil Schmitty

P.S. David Gillilland (yes, THAT David Gilliland) qualified for Talladega 26th in the TRG Motorsports Chevrolet. But that STILL doesn't answer the question:

Where the fock is David Gilliland???
