Hikaru vs. Nova for example.... There's NO DOUBT that Nova is Pink and Hikaru is RED. All the difference in the world lies between them. Hikaru, St. Tail, Washu-chan or girl-type Ranma....all RED. Red is for what's called nekkyou shoujo. Lina Inverse from SLAYERS is another example. Enthusiastic and ardent girls....Girls who are the true leaders, who are firey and fiesty and have good and generally good-natured spirits. In other words they have all the BEST traits of Mary Poppins and Daisy Duck.
Pink is different..... For example, Pink is reluctant.... There ALWAYS is a reluctance in Utena, even when she is ardent...that is never never NEVER there in Hikaru or St. Tail or Washu-chan or girl-type Ranma.
Then again. I've made some exceptions to the above.....Doremi, I suppose would be more RED than PINK.... But here she is. And Chibi-Usa never, or rarely, shows the reluctance her mother does...yet she's as PINK as they come.
It's like that with Girls With Pink Hair..... There is such an aura, that can overtake and overcome one. There is romance and cuteness and and visceral raw power here. So don't be decieved or lulled into thinking that all things PINK are sweetness and cotton-candy.
